Ah, 2020. A miserable year for the world at large to cap off a series of miserable years for the world at large. Remember when 2016 was the year we were all going to pretend didn’t happen because it was so disappointing? Well, we had another thing coming.
Yes, it’s easy to despair. But I’ve kept in mind that I’ve been incredibly lucky to keep my job and my apartment, and I’ve been content to stay home and write. I’ve written the first draft of a novel, titled Twenty-Something. The first draft is an appalling, incoherent rant with no structure. It was embarrassing to reread. So I’m halfway through a second draft that is much better but still on shaky ground. The third draft should be legitimately readable. I will post a chapter on here once I have a good one!
But I also ended up in a new book! Coffin Blossoms is a collection of short horror-comedy and it is out now! And can be bought here! I was very pleased with my story, ‘Axe Murderers’ Gorge’ and had a delightful time working with the editors on this one.
Hopefully, I’ve got enough publications under my belt that I can convince a publisher I’m worth taking a chance on whenever the novel is done. But I need to finish the damn thing before I worry about that.
To whoever is reading this, I hope you’re weathering the pandemic alright and that you and your loved ones are safe. It’s not an easy time. I hope to publish more amusing and silly rejected stories on this site, which you can find under ‘Unpublishable Works’ if you’d like something ridiculous and silly.
Take care and all the best,
